does canon 35 mm slr lens fit into EOS DSLR s?

I do have two queries:

1.Does any AF lens of Canon 35mm motion picture SLR fit into any Canon Digital SLR seamlessly?

2.If one does so, will he go all the functionalities of the lens fitted into a DSLR?

Thanks,

Re: does catechism 35 mm slr lens fit into EOS DSLR s?

"EF" lenses, yes. EF lenses are newer electronic lenses. old "F-mount" lenses will not piece of work.

if the lens was designed for a catechism EOS camera, it will work.

y'all will have 100% functionality

Canon AF film lenses since 1987 are EOS (EF serial)

EF lenses fit film, total frame D-SLR and crop D-SLR.
Notation: EFs lenses are lenses that simply fit one.6x ingather D-SLRs.

Click on the line-upwards selector at the meridian of this page to come across the various EF lenses made:

Re: does canon 35 mm slr lens fit into EOS DSLR due south?

Older bodies, Ftb, F1 up to T90 and other T models have an FD mount and won't accept EF lenses.

Whatever lens you have that fits a canon 35mm with 'EOS' in it's proper noun will fit any canon digital SLR with EOS in it'south proper name.

The uncomplicated answer...

...is any Canon SLR with autofocus. In other words, any EOS photographic camera. Really there was at least i EOS camera that didn't have autofocus but never heed that...

(Truth be told there are actually one or ii very oddball FD-mountain Canon SLRs from the very end of the manual-focus era that could accept some rather peculiar FD-mount autofocus lenses but these can be ignored for any applied purpose.)

Re: does canon 35 mm slr lens fit into EOS DSLR s?

Basically any Canon 35mm SLR made since 1987 will work with the DSLRs. Only brand sure you're camera says EOS or that your lens has EF in it'south name, i.eastward EF 50mm 1:ane.8 would exist an old EF lens that still fits all of Catechism's current lineup

Easy... look at the joining stop of the lens

The older lenses that won't piece of work with EOS cameras (EOS cameras started effectually 1990, maybe a flake before till today) have what is called a bayonet mount at the end of the lens, metal sticks out and goes into the photographic camera torso. EOS lenses take electonic points at the stop of the lens, designed to touch the advisable camera body location; nothing sticking out.

Just goggle Canon Camera museum, hang on I have the link for y'all:

Depends...

As far as I know, only EF series lenses will fit the Canon DSLR bodies.

I sympathise you tin can get a converter to make the older lenses fit, only you may lose AF.

Whether you think you tin or you lot tin can't, you lot're right!

FD to EF Convertor

I understand you can get a converter to make the older lenses fit,
merely you may lose AF.

A quick google will find some FD to EF convertors but is not articulate to me what i loses in the procedure of using a convertor.

Autofocus and vibration reduction would conspicuously be lost, only what about car discontinuity setting? Can 1 yet utilise a DLSR 'Program' way or a shutter priority setting and have the convertor likewise ready the aperture on the FD lens?

I empathise too, that the convertor has some optics and that the 50mm lens (35 mm eqivalent) volition also change on the digital format. Does one still become a full frame image?

And given that the convertor has eyes, there are no doubt some convertors that are better than others (from an image perspective).

Does anyone know how mutual convertors are to buy and where they might have been reviewed? Meliorate still, does anyone have a recommendation and est. cost?

I accept a number of FD lenses for my AE-1 + programme that I'd like to use on the new DLSR bodies rather than have to purchase a new fix of lenses.

You either loose infinity focus (with anything beyond a few metres beingness in the infinity range) because the converter volition act similar a short extension tube. Or you loose all optical qualities considering the converter (the 2d kind) volition act similar a short only shoddy teleconverter (the optics have some similarity with a coke bottle bottom)... In that location is ane good one (the catechism origical FD to EF converter) but that merely fits some long telephoto FD lenses and information technology's priced as if it were made from pure gold.

Autofocus and vibration reduction would clearly be lost, but what

There are no FD lenses that offer either.

No.

Does one still get a total frame paradigm?

Yep.

I have a number of FD lenses for my AE-ane + programme that I'd like to
apply on the new DLSR bodies rather than have to buy a new set of
lenses.

The only ones really worthwile keeping in use are macro lenses with an converter that doesn't include optics (any more than)...
